I have been in the travel industry for over12 years. I am passionate about nature and I love travelling to different countries to experience some of the most amazing sunrises or sunsets this world has to offer. I share my experiences and offer in...

In April 2018, I traveled to Kenya to explore its stunning landscapes and rich culture across three regions: Nairobi, Amboseli, and the Great Rift Valley, concluding in the Masai Mara.

Upon arrival in Nairobi, our safari guides welcomed us and shared interesting facts about the city as we made our way to the Savoy Stanley Hotel, a historic hotel that has hosted many famous guests, including Hemingway.

The next day, we visited the AFEW Giraffe Centre, where we fed Rothschild’s giraffes, and the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. Sadly, we learned that Daphne had passed away, leaving the keepers mourning. I had fostered a baby elephant named Kiasa, and I looked forward to visiting her later that evening. Meeting her and her keeper was truly a memorable experience and I foster her to this day.

Our safari began at Amboseli National Park, famous for its elephants and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Although clouds initially obscured the mountain, we were lucky to see it the following morning, with an elephant in the foreground. During our stay, we watched elephant herds and visited a Maasai village, where we participated in a traditional dance.

After Amboseli, we returned through Nairobi to the Great Rift Valley, stopping for a picnic lunch with a stunning view. We then visited Lake Naivasha for a boat and walking safari, where we observed hippos and various grazing animals, before heading to our lodge in Lake Nakuru before sunset.

Lake Nakuru is a beautiful ecosystem with stunning views of the lake from the Sopa Lodge. We enjoyed two nights at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, complete with game drives. We had fantastic sightings of white rhinos near the lake and saw the usual grazing herds throughout the park. In the afternoon, we attempted to track elusive lions but only had limited views of two males hiding on a rock outcrop.

The final leg of our journey was spent in the Masai Mara. The journey by jeep is long, but once you arrive on the plains, the epic safari begins! We stayed at the Sarova Mara Camp and the Little Governor's Camp while in the Masai Mara. The Sarova Camp offered more of a lodge experience, while the Governor's Camp provided a true safari atmosphere. At Governor's Camp, we had to be escorted back to our tents and wait for a guide to walk us to the dining tent each morning due to the possibility of wildlife wandering about. Hippos were often grazing near the tents in the morning, so guests would need to wait for their escorts.

Game drives in the Mara showcased a variety of creatures, both great and small. We saw lions and cheetahs, several varieties of antelope, wildebeest, zebras, and elephants. We also encountered small reptiles, jackals, hyenas, and various smaller creatures.

On our final day, we had a long drive back to Nairobi, but we enjoyed a game drive along the way. One thing is for sure: you will always see something while out on safari. There is no shortage of wildlife!

Upon arriving back in Nairobi, we stopped for lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant. This restaurant offers mainstays such as beef and chicken, but it also serves whatever game is in season for the adventurous diner. I sampled ostrich but was not brave enough to try crocodile. After a fantastic meal, we were ready to head to the airport and await our flight home. Kenya is truly a magical unforgetable place!
